Coronavirus stats for June 18

Niagara County

Niagara County’s Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County:

Niagara County Public Health Director Daniel J. Stapleton said the county’s death total related to COVID-19 has been adjusted upward to include the deaths of eight Niagara County residents. These deaths occurred between May 4 and June 11.

“The passing of these Niagara County residents occurred in hospitals outside of Niagara County, but the Niagara County Department of Health was not made aware until this week,” Stapleton said. “We send our belated condolences to the families and friends of these individuals.”

  • An 81-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • An 84-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • An 89-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • Another 89-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • A 97-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • A 71-year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • A 78-year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • A 94-year-old female with underlying health conditions

Erie County

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Erie County had a total of 6,785 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 89 on Grand Island and 3,075 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 98,583 people were recorded as tested (6.8% positive), with 608 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Also, 60,091 people have taken an antibody test (6.9% positive). (These last two numbers haven’t been updated since the weekend.)
