The Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative (CHNFC) hosted its fifth annual “Walk the Falls” event on Saturday – this time in person, after converting to a virtual event last year.
Participants were able to walk, run or bike the simple loop route, which began at the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, followed the Niagara Gorge Trail to Niagara Falls State Park, and returned to the Heritage Center for completion.
“We’re so grateful to have been able to bring ‘Walk the Falls’ back this year as an in-person event,” said Evelyn Harris, co-chair and change agent with the CHNFC. “Especially after everything we have been through during the past year-and-a-half, it’s especially important to offer opportunities for the community to come together and reconnect. And hopefully the event will inspire participants to continue getting outdoors this fall for some exercise in the beautiful nature we’re so lucky to have here in Niagara Falls.”
CHNFC integrator Brian Archie said the success of “Walk the Falls” is thanks to the generosity of community sponsors: “Events like this just wouldn’t be possible without the help of those in our community, and we’re thankful for our sponsors this year who helped us bring ‘Walk the Falls’ to life. The more we can work together to bring neighbors together to appreciate the community we live in, the better.
