Fri, Sep 17th 2021 10:05 am

Buffalo Computer Recycling will collect electronic waste from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Grand Island Town Hall parking lot. The e-waste drive is sponsored by Casella.

Waste that will be accepted include various types of electronics. For a fee of $20, people can drop off flat-screen LCDs, and for a fee of $50, people can drop off old-style box televisions (CRTs) and plasma televisions.

Island residents are asked to make an appointment to drop off electronics by calling Buffalo Computer Recycling between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 716-545-6369. For a list of the electronics BCR will accept, visit the company’s website at https://buffalocomputerrecycling.com/.

The large-scale effort to clean up Grand Island, scheduled for the same day, from 8 a.m. to noon, has been canceled, however, due to anticipated low participation numbers, according to an announcement from the Town of Grand Island. Another large-scale cleanup effort will be scheduled for spring 2022.

Large-scale cleanup efforts are organized by the Town of Grand Island and by the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce. They partner with civic groups, local agencies and environmentally minded individuals to recruit volunteers to the events.
