With special guests Off the Wall

The staff and board at the Carnegie Art Center announce Handsome Jack will perform an in-person concert on the lawn this Saturday, Aug. 28. Off the Wall will open.

Handsome Jack, originally from Lockport, is made up of band members Jamison Passuite (guitar/vocals), Joey Verdonselli (bass/vocals) and Bennie Hayes (drums/vocals). The band plays a fusion of boogie soul and rock ‘n’ roll that has earned the admiration of fellow rock travelers such as Chris Robinson and Neal Casal (CRB, Black Crowes), Zachary Gabbard (Buffalo Killers), and Ben McLeod (All Them Witches) among others.

Their concert at the Carnegie Art Center will partly support the nonprofit organization and the work it does to make the arts accessible for the North Tonawanda community. The event will feature food from Dirty Bird food truck, beer from Prosper Brewing, and nonalcoholic kombucha from Big Norwegian Kombucha.

“We are honored to host these two incredible bands at the Carnegie Art Center,” Board President Kimberly Renda said. “Ticket sales from this event will directly support our efforts to remain the center for the arts for the Tonawandas.”

The concert will occur right before the release of the band’s new album, titled “Get Humble,” set to release this fall. With “Get Humble,” Handsome Jack digs again into the classic American musical lexicon (blues, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll) to craft an album ideal for house and block parties.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. Off the Wall will take the stage at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and can be prepurchased on the Carnegie Art Center’s website, www.carnegieartcenter.org, or at the door on the day of the event.

Carnegie Art Center is located at 240 Goundry St., North Tonawanda.
