The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum will reopen for the 2020 season on Wednesday, July 8. The museum was forced to keep its doors shut due to COVID-19 restrictions, but received permission to open as part of phase four of “New York Forward” reopening guidelines. The museum will be reopening in phases and will have limited hours during its first weeks open. Staffers will monitor the opening closely to determine when to expand the museum's capacity.

Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum hours:

  • Wednesday – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Friday – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Saturday – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitor safety is the museum's first priority and the staff is taking added measures to ensure it. The museum asks visitors to follow these protocols when in the museum to keep themselves and others safe:

√ Face masks/coverings are required at all times for all visitors ages 2 and up.

√ All visitors are required to have their temperature checked when they enter the museum. Any guest with a body temperature of 100.4 degrees or above will not be permitted to enter.

√ Visitors must follow the guidance of all signage and staff around the museum.

√ Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the museum space, including in both carousel areas.

√ The museum asks visitors to practice patience with all staff and volunteers of the museum.

The museum will take the following additional steps:

√ Kiddieland Testing Park will remain closed during our first phase of reopening. However, the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum will be monitoring state and CDC guidelines on a weekly basis to determine when Kiddieland will open for the 2020 season.

√ Both carousels are operating on half-hour schedules to ensure time for proper cleaning and sanitation.

√ The museum is closing an hour early each day to allow us additional cleaning time.
