Coronavirus stats for May 12

Niagara County

Niagara County’s Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report the death of two Niagara County residents. We extend our deepest sympathies to their family and friends.”

The deceased include:

  • A 49-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • A 71-year-old female with underlying health conditions

The rest of the update is as follows:

  • 28 new positive cases, for a total of 720 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 320 active cases (299 isolating at home, 21 in a hospital)
  • 356 recovered
  • 44 deaths

Erie County

As of 4 p.m. Sunday, Erie County had a total of 4,484 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 49 on Grand Island and 1,854 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 26,783 people have been tested, with 387 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Also, 19,845 people have taken an antibody test.
