Organizers of Erie County’s two biggest summer events provided updates on Wednesday.

Taste of Buffalo

After receiving updated guidance from New York State following the lifting of pandemic-related restrictions on capacity for public gatherings that was announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday, admission to The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops will again be free and open to everyone for this year’s festival.

The event will no longer be divided into sessions and will be open for its usual festival hours, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 10, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 11. As in years past, food and beverage tickets will be available to purchase using cash, Mastercard or Visa, upon arrival at one of two ticket tents at the festival.

Those individuals who have already purchased admission tickets via www.TasteofBuffalo.com will automatically receive a full refund. Anyone who purchased an admission ticket to the Tops Markets Session at a Tops store will receive a full $20 refund at any Tops area location. Refunds will be issued at the customer service desk through July 11. Anyone wishing to take their Tops voucher to the Taste of Buffalo itself may do so and will receive $25 in food tickets at the ticket tents at any point during the festival.

This year’s Taste will include 26 restaurants, food trucks and wineries, in addition to a host of participating sponsors situated throughout Niagara Square and along Delaware Avenue north to Huron Street. For further information on this year’s festival, including a map and the full list of participating restaurants and their menu items, see the digital festival guide on www.TasteofBuffalo.com.

The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is the nation's largest two-day food festival.

Erie County Fair

Based on the new guidance released by Cuomo earlier this week, the Erie County Agricultural Society plans to open the Erie County Fair at full capacity. The dates of this year’s event are Aug. 11-22. Organizers said they will adhere to the latest health and safety guidelines as required by the Centers for Disease Control.

The Erie County Fair will feature top free entertainment acts daily, livestock exhibits and competitions, Strates Shows Midway, traditional and new fair foods, and shopping.

Admission tickets will be sold online only starting at 9 a.m. July 1 at www.ECFair.org. Patrons no longer need to buy a ticket for a specific day as tickets purchased can be used any one day.

The price of admission for 2021 is $13.50, which includes parking. Kids ages 12 and under are admitted free, but will still need to go online to reserve a ticket. There will be no ticket sellers at the gates.

Capacity limits for the GUSTO Grandstand have also been lifted. Tickets will also go on sale online starting at 9 a.m. July 1 at www.ECFair.org. There will be no in-person ticket sales. Tickets purchased for a grandstand event include admission to the fair on the day of the show.

Up to date information and details about the Erie County Fair will be available at www.ecfair.org, the all-new mobile app and the event’s social channels.

The Erie County Agricultural Society is a private, not-for-profit membership organization.
