Nearly 1 million packages of Girl Scout cookies have landed in Western New York for the “mega drop” event. From March 3-6, Girl Scout volunteers will fill their vehicles with cookies to prepare their troops’ orders. Girl Scout Cookie lovers across Western New York can support local Girl Scouts and visit in-person, virtual and drive-thru booths March 7-28. Visit www.gswny.org.

New this season, Girl Scouts of Western New York is participating in a national collaboration with food ordering and delivery platform Grubhub so girls have an additional way to facilitate contact-free cookie orders. Consumers can order Girl Scout Cookies for pickup or delivery on Grubhub.com or the Grubhub app. Girls will gain a hands-on experience in managing e-commerce as local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory, and more, all using Grubhub’s back-end technology. This method will be on Grubhub from March 10-28 in Buffalo and Rochester.

A press release stated, “As always, the proceeds benefit local troops and council while providing another innovative way to safely run the cookie program virtually.”

It added, “The Girl Scout Cookie Program powers amazing experiences for girls. When customers buy cookies, they are doing so much more than purchasing a box of cookies. They are helping girls become confident leaders, by learning the five key life skills like: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

“The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest entrepreneurial program for girls in the world that powers hands-on and life-changing experiences in a variety of skills areas for girls all year long. With the help of proceeds from the cookie program, girls gain real-world entrepreneurial experience, learn critical life skills, explore the great outdoors, and dive into fun, hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities that unleash their imaginations and broaden their worlds. When customers make a local Girl Scout Cookie purchase, they are helping the next generation of entrepreneurs get an important taste of what it takes to become successful in business.”
