The Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative (CHNFC) has teamed up with F BITES on “Soup for the Soul,” a six-week program providing soup and a side across Niagara Falls to those in need of a hot meal. The program begins March 4 and continues every Thursday through April 8.

F BITES and CHNFC share a common goal to provide healthy, sustainable and delicious food to seven locations throughout Niagara Falls.

Integrator and change agent at CHNFC, Brian Archie said he aims to help fill gaps between meals for the hungry in Niagara Falls as poverty continues to impact the region.

“Many Niagara Falls residents are experiencing economic hardships,” Archie said. “We will continue to collaborate with other organizations to bring resources into hard-to-reach areas and to improve the overall health of our community.”

Each participating location listed below will receive 50 meals in total, with the exception of Spallino Towers and Wrobel Towers, which will receive 25 meals each. The start time of the service at each location is 1 p.m.

“Soup for the Soul” schedule:

  • March 4 at Niagara Falls Public Library, 8728 Buffalo Ave.
  • March 11 at 19th Street area (near Niagara Community Action Program), 564 19th St.
  • March 18 at NFTA Portage Station, 1124 Portage Road
  • March 25 at Midtown Grocery, 1563 Pierce Ave.
  • April 1 at Spallino Towers, 720 10th St.
  • April 1 at Wrobel Towers, 800 Niagara Ave.
  • April 8 at Jordan Gardens (next to Mrs. Kings Store), 2910 Highland Ave.

F BITES will prepare and deliver the soup throughout the program duration. The weekly soup options will be determined in collaboration with Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative.

Chef Bobby Anderson – founder of F BITES and a former “Hell’s Kitchen” competitor – said he is excited to work with the CHNFC on this fulfilling program.

“ ‘Soup for the Soul’ is just one way our city can fill the poverty gap during these especially hard times,” Anderson said. “ ‘Great Food Changing Lives’ is our mission at F BITES, so to fulfill this mission, participants of the F BITES in-school programs will assist with the preparation and production of the soups.”
