Series features virtual fieldtrips & activities with area’s most beloved family-friendly destinations

BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York is presenting “February Fun in 2021,” a weeklong series of free, virtual and outdoor activities for families to enjoy during winter break from Monday, Feb. 15, through Friday, Feb. 19.

The local health plan tapped into its most-beloved community partners to host several special events. Partners include The Buffalo Zoo; Monkey See, Monkey Do; Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center; the Alright-Knox Art Truck; Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum; and The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Families will have free access to virtual daily scheduled events, including kids’ fitness classes; science demonstrations; story times; and interactive field trips to the Buffalo Zoo and the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center. For those looking for more flexibility, BlueCross BlueShield is also providing activities that families can do on their own schedule, like downloadable coloring and activity pages, healthy recipes, and a guide to safe, outdoor winter activities throughout Western New York – plus opportunities to pick up complimentary creativity kits.

“We understand that families in our community are looking for new ways to keep busy while staying healthy during the pandemic, and especially during the cold winter months,” said Julie R. Snyder, senior vice president, chief marketing and communications officer, BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York. “As a community-based, not-for-profit health plan that has been serving the region for more than 85 years, BlueCross BlueShield is pleased to offer our community a broad variety of free, fun and, most importantly, safe activities this winter break.”

Individuals interested in participating in any of the free virtual events are required to preregister, as space is limited.
