With the cold of winter upon us the Rotary Club of Grand Island will host its annual Undie Sunday 2021 collection between Feb. 22 and March 7 throughout the Island for homeless men, women and children in the community.

The Rotary Club seeks the basic needs of new and unused underclothing and socks to provide personal dignity, comfort and warmth and is so much appreciated by those who receive them each year. There is a particular need for warm socks of all sizes; men’s underwear, sizes large, extra-large and XX-large; and all women’s undergarments. As a precaution for COVID, please donate plastic packaged items.

The donated items will be distributed to the Community Mission of Niagara Falls and St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy in Buffalo.

Between Feb. 22 and March 7, Islanders are encouraged to place packages of new underclothing and socks in the red hampers at the confirmed locations listed below. More locations will be announced next week.

“We have been hosting Undie Sunday for more than 10 years, and each year the Missions tells us that their need for these new, warm items continues to grow,” said Rotary Club of Grand island President Sherry Miller. “Each year, though, Islanders have always come through for us. We are happy to have the students at Grand Island High School and Huth Road participating.”
