Karen Healy-Case, former lieutenant and district chief for the Buffalo Police Department, launched her campaign for Erie County Sheriff on Wednesday. In a one-minute announcement video, linked below, Healy-Case pledged” to use her decades of experience in law enforcement and the private sector to give taxpayers the results and protection they deserve.”

Healy-Case began her career with the Buffalo Police Department in 1988. Throughout her 22 years of law enforcement service, Healy-Case rose to the rank of lieutenant and district chief – the second woman to earn the rank in Buffalo Police Department history.

“Like so many residents of Erie County, I am tired of watching the radical Left attack our Constitution, the rule of law, and our courageous law enforcement officers,” Healy-Case said. “We cannot let the ‘defund the police’ mob take over our Sheriff’s Office. Keeping this office in Republican hands is the only way we can end the chaos and keep Erie County citizens safe. I’m ready to use my decades of experience to give you the results and protection you deserve.”

Before she retired from the Buffalo Police Department in 2010, Healy-Case raised two children, earned a master’s degree from Buffalo State College, and taught a corrections program at Erie Community College.

For the past decade, Healy-Case has served as a private sector security expert, protecting millions of dollars in assets and overseeing day-to-day security operations for Allied Universal (formerly AlliedBarton), the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and M&T Bank. Healy-Case also serves on the board of directors for Crimestoppers and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Healy-Case added: “I will stand up to stop the unjust laws passed by Albany politicians that threaten our liberty. I will always fight for law and order, and I will never cater to the liberals who want to abolish our police departments. Plain and simple: I will be a sheriff for all the people of Erie County – nothing will stand in the way of keeping us safe.”
