Catholic Health is finalizing a plan to safely welcome visitors back to its hospitals on Saturday, June 20. Current visitor restrictions will remain in effect until that time. New processes and guidelines are being finalized based on directives issued Wednesday by the New York State Department of Health (DOH), which include limited visiting hours, limits on the number of visitors at one time, required facial masking, and health screenings for all visitors.

The guidelines will be in place at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, and Sisters of Charity Hospital (Main Street campus only).

Visiting hours will be from from 2-6 p.m. daily for inpatients only.

A press release said, “We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we strive to keep our patients, visitors and staff safe. More details will be made available in the coming days at chsbuffalo.org.”

This plan does not include Catholic Health’s COVID-19 treatment facility at St. Joseph Campus, the St. Joseph Post-Acute Center in Orchard Park, or the health system’s nursing homes, which are still not permitted to have visitors by the DOH.

“We know how important visitors are to a patient’s well-being and recovery and are happy we are able to welcome family members and loved ones back to our hospitals just in time for Father’s Day,” said Mark A. Sullivan, president and CEO of Catholic Health. “Our team has worked hard to put a smooth process in place, while ensuring all the necessary safeguards to protect our patients, visitors and staff. We thank everyone for their cooperation as we continue to offer our patients the highest quality care and safety.”
