$60,000 grant will provide essential equipment, supplies & pharmaceuticals

KeyBank, in partnership with the First Niagara Foundation, is awarding a grant for $60,000 to support health care workers at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and their ongoing efforts to care for COVID-19 patients in the community.

The funding will provide essential equipment, supplies and pharmaceuticals necessary to fight the coronavirus, save lives, and protect health care workers. This, as the Western New York community is expected to see its coronavirus caseload peak in the coming weeks.

“Our health care workers are the backbone of our community and are working every day to provide critical care for coronavirus patients, while putting themselves at risk,” said Elizabeth Gurney, executive director of the KeyBank and First Niagara Foundations. “We are committed to providing our unwavering support for their enduring and heroic actions during this time of great need.”

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is the last-standing independent hospital in Western New York.

“Niagara Falls Memorial is in urgent need of support during this pandemic, and our brave health care workers are making tremendous sacrifices,” said Joseph A. Ruffolo, president and CEO. “We are grateful to the KeyBank and First Niagara Foundation as we navigate this uncertain and unprecedented time.”
