Using WellNow Virtual Medical, Western New York patients can receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries & illnesses to keep them safe and healthy

Amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, WellNow Urgent Care has expanded its telehealth platform, WellNow Virtual Medical. Beginning today, Western New York patients can use any web-enabled device to receive a virtual consultation with a registered WellNow provider from any location within New York – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Offering remote non-life-threatening care options for patients is more important now than ever,” said WellNow Urgent Care President John Radford, M.D. “WellNow Virtual Medical offers Western New York individuals the same care they’ve come to expect from our facilities, now through a format that can meet them wherever they are.”

WellNow launched its first telehealth platform in 2016 to provide New York patients treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses from the comfort of their home, office or other location. The relaunch of the platform extends patients seeking treatment outside of a traditional health care facility the opportunity to connect with a WellNow provider.

“We’ve been providing telehealth services for years, just on a smaller scale until now. Growing telehealth as part of our practice was already part of our 2020 plans for WellNow – in fact, we’ve been ramping up our team of over 100 doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants for months,” Radford said. “Given the current crisis, our team has literally been working around the clock to make telehealth available to all our communities sooner. Because of these efforts, we’ve been able to accelerate the expansion of our platform and can better serve the medical demands of our communities today.

“While telehealth can be a great supplement to the practice of medicine, there are limits to what we can do with it. We want to remind our communities that our WellNow Urgent Care centers are still safe and clean places to receive care – we are taking all necessary steps to maintain the safety of our patients and providers.”

A press release said, “WellNow Virtual Medical uses a secure, HIPAA-compliant, web-based platform that can be accessed from smartphones, tablets and computers. After completing a short registration process, patients will be seen by a WellNow provider via virtual consultation. Ailments such as allergies, coughs, fevers, sinus infections and more can all be treated and diagnosed by through the platform.”

All WellNow locations provide treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, such as sprains, strains, colds and the flu, while also providing on-site X-rays, lab testing and physicals. Patients are treated on a walk-in basis, but may also check-in online or view up-to-date facility wait times directly on the company’s homepage. WellNow welcomes most insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, Fidelis and Veterans Affairs TriWest. A full list of services and hours can be found online.

WellNow Urgent Care operates more than 40 locations across New York and Illinois. The company projects to open 20 new facilities in 2020 across the two states.
