Two-day shopping event will take place Dec. 5 & 6 inside Kenan Arena

Many artisans are eager to boost their yearend sales during the holiday season after a year of canceled shows. The Kenan Center has designed a socially distanced shopping experience that meets state mandates while giving the community a chance to shop local, and handmade.

The Holiday Handmade Market will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 5-6 in the Kenan Center Arena. The event will host over 20 local handmade artisan vendors specializing in jewelry, fine art, photography, pottery and more. Shoppers are encouraged to reserve their free, 30-minute shopping slot by visiting the Kenan Center website. Walk-ins are welcome if mandated capacity allows.

Participating artisan Lynn Schwab of Lynn Schwab Jewelry has learned to pivot during this past year but is eager to see her customers in person.

“Meeting the women who wear my jewelry, or the people who buy to gift, is magic for me,” she said. “This year's canceled shows have motivated me to research and learn innovative online sales through marketing efforts, good photography and meaningful ways of communicating with my audience.”

The Kenan Arena Annex will also host a separate event, a yoga self-care market that is a ticketed event focused on health and wellness vendors. More information about that event, and on how to support the participating artisans during the Holiday Handmade Market, can be found online at www.kenancenter.org.
