A statement from New York State Sen. Rob Ortt, Senate Republican leader, asking Office of Renewable Energy Siting to extend public hearings due to ‘lack of broadband’:

“Upstate and Western New York are facing perhaps the most dramatic changes our communities have ever seen. New York state continues to push industrial wind and solar projects into our backyards with expedited project timeframes and minimal public and community input. New York is showing its complete disconnect with local concerns by hosting virtual public forums where residents, as has been well-documented, do not have high-speed broadband access. Rather than insult Western New Yorkers, the state should extend the public comment period so that citizens have a say in the policies that will shape their communities for generations to come.”
