Change to Veterans Day ceremony on Grand Island

Tue, Nov 10th 2020 03:30 pm

Ceremony size limited to 25 people or less

The Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday on Grand Island is now restricted, as Erie County was placed into Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s micro-cluster action initiative “yellow zone” on Monday.

Town of Grand Island Recreation Supervisor Joseph A. Menter informed the Dispatch, “Under this designation, we are limited to social gathering sizes of 25 people or less, both indoors and outdoors.

“We respectfully ask that the public refrain from attending the ceremony in person so that the members of the VFW Post 9249 and American Legion Post 1346 can conduct a ceremony following NYS mandates to properly honor all veterans.”

He explained, “The ceremony will be livestreamed on the town’s YouTube channel and we respectfully request the public to view the event on that channel. The link can be found on the town’s website – grandislandny.us. Additional information can also be found on the Recreation Department website at grandislandny.myrec.com.
