The Giving Project has launched a fundraising campaign called, “Good Neighbors Against Covid-19,” which will benefit the Child Care Resource Network. CCRN is an essential resource for the Western New York community during the COVID-19 crisis as it is connecting essential workers such as doctors, nurses and grocery store workers with child care services.

The Giving Project is a professional fundraising organization that hosts online campaigns benefiting nonprofit organizations. Donors have the chance to win prizes or experiences by promoting causes that matter to them. The “Good Neighbors Against Covid-19” campaign will allow people to purchase ticket entries to win different prizes.

A press release said, “While the nation is practicing social distancing, the campaign is meant to act as a virtual basket raffle. The more tickets donors purchase, the better chance they will have to win the prize of their choice.”

The Giving Project has collected a number of prizes up for grabs, including a signed cleat from the Buffalo Bills; a Buffalo Sabres hockey stick signed by Rasmus Dahlin; a trip to see a filming of an episode of the CBS sitcom “Mom,” which was donated by Nicholas Bakay; beautiful pieces of artwork by local artists Jane Foley Ferraro and Jen Dowdell; and a three-pack of shirts from 26 Shirts. Each donated prize will be featured on the campaign page, and on its own page, and include a prize description, highlighting the business or individual that donated it.

The founder of The Giving Project, Joe Castle, is still seeking prize donations and prize sponsors.

“We are asking any Western New York area businesses to contribute an item, experience or gift certificate to be used in an extended online sweepstakes with proceeds going to the Child Care Resource Network,” Castle said. “Any business or individual that decides to sponsor or donate a prize will be recognized on our ‘Good Neighbors Against Covid-19’ campaign page. This is a fun way for the community to give back to a worthy cause that is having a direct impact on Western New York during this time.”

The Child Care Resource Network is an overall advocate for the children of Erie County and Western New York. Its mission is to promote quality, affordable, accessible care and learning for all children by supporting and empowering families, caregivers, education professionals, and employers. It provides a number of resources for children and families.

The fundraiser will be held through May 15. Businesses or individuals who want to donate or sponsor a prize for the online raffle can email Castle at [email protected]. Eighty percent of the proceeds will go to the Child Care Resource Network in order to assist struggling families during the pandemic.
