The Buffalo Ronald McDonald House released the following statement:

With COVID-19 spreading locally, we’re proactively working to protect the health and safety of our guest patients and families, volunteers and staff.

Therefore, effective immediately until further notice, we are suspending all in-house volunteer programs at our Buffalo Ronald McDonald House as well as the operation of our Oishei Children’s Hospital Family Lounge and Happy Wheels Cart Programs.

We will continue housing current guests (pediatric patients and their immediate adult caregivers) at our Buffalo House. Outside visitors will not be allowed.

We are supporting the health and safety of our guests and staff through enhanced policies on self-monitoring, increased systematic daily cleaning and disinfecting and promoting hand washing.

We are in regular contact with our hospital partners and local health authorities who are closely monitoring the dynamic situation of COVID-19 and we will continue to act thoughtfully to ensure all precautionary steps are taken.

This temporary disruption in programming will leave our guests without many of the resources that they have come to count on from RMHC, including daily meals through our Cooks for Kids program.
