Kaleida Health statement regarding coronavirus rumors

Kaleida Health today released the following statement in response to what it called “false statements, inaccuracies and inflammatory rumors in social media about novel coronavirus cases in Western New York”:

“The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) and the Niagara County Department of Health have all said that there are no reports of any cases of novel coronavirus in Erie County or Niagara County. This includes Kaleida Health facilities Buffalo General Medical Center, DeGraff Memorial Hospital, Oishei Children’s Hospital and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.”

The ECDOH also advised individuals to “verify all information you may receive online, especially via social media.”

A press release said, “Kaleida Health continues to closely monitor the coronavirus situation and is constant contact with the state and county health departments on this issue.”

NYSDOH said New Yorkers can call 1-888-364-3065 (NYSDOH) with questions or concerns, or visit the New York State Department of Health website, https://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/coronavirus/#_blank; or the CDC novel coronavirus page: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
