Only WNY arts organization to receive support

Arts Services Inc. was awarded $10,000 from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAAF) through the CARES Arts Organization Relief Grants program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Small to mid-sized nonprofit arts organizations in MAAF’s partner states, jurisdictions, and territories were eligible to apply through a competitive process for one-time, nonmatching grants of up to $20,000. ASI was the only organization selected to receive funding from the Buffalo and Western New York region.

MAAF received 1,022 applications requesting $10.7 million in support at the program deadline. Applications went through a rigorous review process that involved a diverse group of panelists to ensure an equitable distribution of funds. A total of 79 grants were awarded to organizations working in the performing, visual and literary arts, and 57 of the 79 CARES grantees are new to MAAF programs, including ASI.

"ASI is proud to represent the Western New York arts and cultural community through the support by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation,” said Jennifer Swan-Kilpatrick, ASI’s executive director. “We will use this financial support to continue working with our local artists and nonprofit arts groups to help them through the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light.”

ASI provides vital services to WNY's arts and cultural community, including funding, training, advocacy and professional assistance. With this funding, ASI can continue to fulfill its mission and support the arts industry in this region.

A total of 33 arts organizations across New York were also supported through this program to enhance the creative and artistic community in the state. A complete list of the grantees can be found here.
