Popular Girl Scout fall product program returns to help Girl Scout troops fund their programs and activities while also giving back to the military

Today, Girl Scouts of Western New York’s popular fall product program returns.

A press release said, “It combines educational activities with money-earning opportunities for Girl Scout troops to help fund their programs, community service projects, and other special activities. Girls need access to Girl Scouts’ formative experiences and programming now more than ever.

Girl Scouts is not cancelled; and hundreds of girls across Western New York will put their entrepreneurial, e-commerce, and cyber-safety skills to work as they use an online digital platform to engage close friends, family and the general public to order candies, nuts, magazines and other related items.”

The fall product program runs now thru Oct. 28.

The community can support a local Girl Scout when they stock up on popular sweet and savory items such as Thin Mints Almonds, Peanut Butter Bears, Dulce de Leche Owls, English Butter Toffee, Dark Chocolate Mint Penguins, Dark Chocolate Caramel Caps with Sea Salt, chocolate covered raisins, fat-free fruit slices, dill pickle-flavored peanuts, salsa mix, whole cashews with sea salt, and – new this year – peanut butter trail mix. Prices range from $6 to $40.

The press release added, “Through the fall product program, girls gain solid money smarts and the knowledge of how to navigate selling products in a digital environment, which are skills that will last girls a lifetime. Learning by doing gives girls a sense of accomplishment and pride in their abilities. Girl Scout Research Institute studies show that 90% of girls say it is important for them to learn how to manage money and 88% of girls say that it is important to set financial goals, and the fall product program helps them to do just that.”

Girls are also taught the importance of cyber-safety as they use a digital database to track their orders and send out electronic emails to their customers. This primarily friends and family program teaches girls five skills: goal-setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Girls also learn the benefits of working together as a team, as well as earning money to support their activities throughout the year.

Customers can also elect to help the local military. Through the fall product program – share donation program, customers can choose to purchase items to benefit local military personnel and veterans.

The fall product program runs through Oct. 28. For more information on how to support a local girl through the fall product program, girl membership, or adult volunteering, email [email protected], visit gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410.
