It was all thumbs up, as the community supported a local nonprofit agency.

“We want to thank all the volunteers and participants that made this possible. Because of COVID-19 we were unable to do our annual full blown golf tournament, so we decided to do a mini tournament to benefit Lockport CARES!,” Wick said. “People were extremely generous and we raised over $3,000 that was donated for the CARES mission.”

Along with the financial donation, items from the Lockport CARES wish list were collected by golf enthusiasts.

Lockport CARES reopened in June after being closed due to COVID restrictions since March.

“Donations are way down and these unexpected and substantial gifts are truly a blessing for the homeless in our local community,” Wing said. He noted the numbers of volunteers are also down 60% from pre-COVID-19 numbers.” If you are interested in volunteering, give us a call at our business number 716-438-2273, see us on Facebook, or visit us at lockportcares.org
