Free drive-thru Fall Fest for families event hosted by Girl Scouts of Western New York

Free pumpkin for families with a newly registered Girl Scout member during the event.

Girl Scouts of Western New York will offer a free drive-thru Fall Fest for families to provide girls in grades K-12 and adults ages 18 and older with an opportunity to have some family-fun and join Girl Scouts for the new program year. This is the first event of its kind for GSWNY and it’s open to the public.

During the event, families will remain in their vehicles as they experience drive-thru activities, games, treats and prizes. A free pumpkin will be given to every family that has a new member join Girl Scouts during the event.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at three GSWNY locations:

•Buffalo Service Center, Calspan Business Park, 4433 Genesee St., Buffalo

•Jamestown Service Center, 2661 Horton Road, Jamestown

•Rochester Service Center, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Door 9, Rochester

GSWNY invites new girls in grades K-12 and adult volunteers ages 18 and older to join for the new program year that is happening now. The 2020-21 theme is: Why Girl Scouts?

A press release said, “As studies show Girl Scouts improves girls’ confidence and makes them better prepared for life’s challenges. Girl Scouts is dedicated to helping girls follow their heart while they discover new interests, strengths, and abilities! Girl Scouts is not canceled and continues to be a source of hope and connectedness for girls throughout the pandemic and will continue to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”

GSWNY’s 2020-21 programs in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship include the rollout of 24 new badges that prepare Girl Scouts to be ambitious and decisive leaders with badges in automotive engineering, STEM career exploration, entrepreneurship, and civics to help girls become leaders. Best of all, this is a journey families can take with their girl and 89% of parents say their daughters are happier because of Girl Scouts.
