The University at Buffalo’s Center for the Advancement of Sport presents a sports law roundtable discussion about the challenges top collegiate and professional sports health professionals, administrators and athletes face as a result of COVID-19.

The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25. The conference will be held via Zoom. Registration is required. Register and find more information on this website.

The conference, “High Level Sports During a Pandemic,” will spotlight the legal, medical and administrative challenges faced by elite athletic programs as a result of COVID-19.

“As collegiate conferences such as the Big Ten and school districts across the country debate how and whether to return to play, the Center for the Advancement of Sport presents this unique opportunity to hear directly from the people involved in making those difficult decisions,” said Helen A. “Nellie” Drew, director of the Center for the Advancement of Sport. “Join us for an insightful, informative and engaging expert discussion about one of the most crucial decisions ever confronted in the world of amateur athletics: whether and how to return to play in a pandemic.”

Panel members include Les Bisson, June A. and Eugene R. Mindell, M.D. professor and chair of the department of orthopaedics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; Mark Alnutt, UB director of athletics; and Brian Bratta, UB associate athletic director of sports medicine and wellness services, and coordinator of the UB athletic department’s COVID-19 response.

For more information, contact Drew at [email protected].

The panel discussion is being held in conjunction with the UB Alumni Association and the UB Law Alumni Association.
