Sheryl Major to join the staff of Independence Express

Western New York Independent Living Inc. (WNYIL) welcomed Sheryl B. Major as the newest employee of its Independence Express (IE) transportation division, where she will be among the drivers of its fleet of wheelchair-lift equipped vans and minivans for those without mobility impairments. As a staff driver, Major will be delivering medications, groceries and medical equipment to individuals who are sheltering at home, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A press release said Major brings a wealth of varied experience to her new position. She was a counselor for people with mild intellectual disabilities at Heritage Christian Services in Rochester; she served Baker Victory Services in Lackawanna as a direct support professional; she was a customer service representative at iQor Holdings Intelligent Customer Support and Outsourcing in Depew; served as a customer service representative at Capital Management Services in Buffalo; was a bakery associate at Walmart Stores in Spring Valley, Nevada; was a customer service representative at Verizon Services Group in Buffalo for 12 years, during which she won 15 sales awards; and was a customer service representative at International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Buffalo. Major holds a business diploma from Kensington High School.
