Coronavirus counties update for May 4

Niagara County

The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report the deaths of two Niagara County residents. We send our deepest sympathies to their family and friends.”

The deceased are:

  • An 8- year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • A 73-year-old male with underlying health conditions

The rest of the update is as follows:       

  • 6 new positive cases, for a total of 529 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 246 active cases (isolating at home or in hospital)
  • 255 recovered
  • 28 deaths

Erie County

As of 5 p.m. Sunday, Erie County had a total of 3,749 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 48 on Grand Island and 1,480 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 19,190 people have been tested, with 283 deaths attributed to the coronavirus.
