The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County.

“We regretfully report one death, a 66-year-old male with underlying health conditions,” a press release said.

The full update is as follows:

  • 11 new positive cases since Saturday’s update, for a total of 205 to date
  • 113 isolating at home (20 in hospital isolation)
  • 67 recovered
  • 5 deaths
  • 896 people tested (source: https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/)
  • The Niagara County “heat map” breaks down the positive cases down by municipality.

Public Health Director Daniel Stapleton said, “These aren't easy for any of us to deal with; and our condolences go out to the family.”

Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh said, “Our prayers are with the family and the loved ones of this individual, as they have been all along with those that are affected by COVID-19. These are not announcements, certainly, that we like to have to make.

“This is a difficult time for those families as they struggle through, especially with visitation and funeral services being so drastically different from what they normally would be. So, again, we continue to think of those families and keep you in our thoughts and prayers.”
