NU's Levesque Institute for Civic Engagement provides resources for the community

Niagara University’s Levesque Institute for Civic Engagement has developed an array of online programming for the broader community to offer supports while the pandemic continues.

A press release said, “During these times, an Institute for Civic Engagement needs to be at the forefront to serve as a convener of resources, share important programs with the general community, and provide fun learning activities that could lessen the burden while we are asked to stay at home.”

Executive Director Patricia Wrobel said, “Our Levesque Institute team is working on a daily basis to provide and update current resources on our website and offer programs for children and families in early childhood, literacy, and health and wellness. Our service-learning program, IMPACT, has students working remotely on a variety of projects in their respective communities.”

Some of those resources include:

•“Connect with 5 in 5,” a program that enables the NU community to make an IMPACT by reaching out to five people each day to say hello, check their needs, and hopefully brighten their days during this “stay at home” time. •A series of 90-second videos created by IMPACT that highlight virtual and other volunteer opportunities that are safe while social distancing. These videos will be posted once a week at https://levesqueinstitute.niagara.edu/impact/90-second-of-impact/.

•Themed learning activities for early childhood and childhood-aged children will be posted at 10 a.m. every weekday on the Facebook page to give parents and guardians resources to facilitate at-home learning. Go to www.facebook.com/NiagaraIMPACT.

•Nutrition and recreational activities.

•Resources and activities for English Language Learners.
