Family Justice Center receives donation

Mon, Aug 10th 2020 10:45 am

The Grand Island Lions Club presented a check for $3,000 to the Family Justice Center’s newest satellite at 2074 Whitehaven Road, the former parsonage of Trinity United Methodist Church.

“The funds represent our sponsorship of the children’s room at the center,” said Lion Tom Witkowski. The center will help citizens here and in neighboring communities escape the trauma of spousal abuse.

“A matching grant of $1,500 was obtained from the Brandel-Murphy Youth Foundation who has previously granted the Lions Club matching funds for the Miracle League playground, the Lions’ Special Kids Picnic, and for the new playground at Charlotte Sidway Elementary,” Witkowski added.
