Coronavirus county update for April 29

The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update Wednesday on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report one new death of a Niagara County resident, an 80-year-old male with underlying health conditions. We send our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.”

The rest of the update is as follows:

  • 12 new positive cases, for a total of 440 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 206 in isolation (182 isolating at home, 24 in hospital isolation)
  • 211 recovered
  • 23 deaths
  • 2,260 people tested (source: https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/)

Quarantines, unlike isolations, are for people who are well and not showing symptoms, but may have been exposed to the virus. Right now, 205 people are in quarantine and 425 have completed quarantine.

Erie County

In Erie County, there are 3,224 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of noon Tuesday, with 14,503 people tested and 247 deaths. Of the positive cases, 47 people are from Grand Island, while 1,288 reside in Buffalo.
