The Newfane Learning Center and North Tonawanda Learning Center applied to the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University at Albany (CARD Albany) School Consultation Project and were selected. Beginning in January, a team of BOCES teachers, administrators, behavior specialists, counselors, speech pathologist, OT, PT, an aide and a parent will work with SUNY at Albany's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities Resource Team as they mentor staffs to improve the quality of life for individuals with autism.

The centers said, “We look forward to enhancing the school-based strategies to foster the social and emotional development of our students. The school team will work together to practice and reinforce skills taught by our mentors from the CARD Albany team.”
