By the Grand Island Neighbors Foundation

The Grand Island Neighbors Foundation has received many donations from members of our community during this COVID-19 pandemic and would like to thank all members of our community who have provided food and cash to help us in our mission to serve those in need on Grand Island. We would like to highlight several of our more significant contributions.

•Jill Ungaro, owner of Live, Love, Buffalo, donated 30% of the proceeds from the sale of Grand Island-themed apparel in April and May. Jill presented a check for $1,100 to Neighbors Foundation Treasurer Lynn Henschel, as Bob Henschel, Linda Clark and President Dave Conboy observed.

•Bob Piatek, our local State Farm Insurance agent, arranged for State Farm to donate $500 to the Neighbors Foundation. The top picture shows him presenting the check to Conboy.

•Sharon Jones arranged a food collection with the parishioners at St. Martin's in the Field resulting in a significant donation of nonperishable food as shown below.

•Additionally, St, Martin's donated $1,100 from the proceeds from its musical, "Mary Did You Know.”

•The faculty and staff of Conner Middle School donated $500 from the proceeds from their casual dress day.

•The River Lea Quilters Guild donated $2,000 from its Grand Island Town Hall mask distribution donation proceeds.

•We have received a significant amount of food donations that have been left in the narthex of St. Stephens Church. We thank the parishioners of St. Stephens and others in the community who have donated in this manner.

•We wish to thank all of our Islanders who donated food on May 30 at the mobile food collection at the Knights of Columbus Mary Star of the Sea Council. As a result of your generosity, we collected over 500 pounds of nonperishable food. Cole Remmes, Rachel Gaydosh, Rebekah Gaydosh and Will Varnell restocked the Neighbors Foundation pantry after the food collection.

•Thanks again to all who have donated! Every single donation, no matter the amount, is appreciated and helps our neighbors in need.

As a reminder, those in need can call 716-773-7476 or 716-773-1452 for assistance. If you would like to donate food, contact Conboy at 716-773-7476. If you would like to donate money, you may do so online at www.gineighbors.org, or mail a check to:
