Coronavirus stats for May 13

Niagara County

Niagara County’s Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report the death of two Niagara County residents. We extend our deepest sympathies to their family and friends.”

The deceased include:

  • A 73-year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • An 86-year-old female with underlying health conditions

The rest of the update is as follows:

  • 16 new positive cases, for a total of 736 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 313 active cases (293 isolating at home, 20 in a hospital)
  • 377 recovered
  • 46 deaths
  • 5,638 people tested (source: https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/)

Quarantines, unlike isolations, are for people who are well and not showing symptoms, but may have been exposed to the virus. Right now, 185 people are in quarantine while 612 have completed quarantine.

Erie County

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Erie County had a total of 4,579 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 48 on Grand Island and 1,897 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 27,864 people have been tested (18.4% positive), with 400 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Also, 21,139 people have taken an antibody test (7.8% positive).
