Kaleida Health on Wednesday released the following updates regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic:

COVID-19 DRAWS HUNDREDS OF DOCTORS AND NURSES BACK TO WORK – More than 900 clinical staff, including doctors, nurses and students, have stepped up in a collective effort to care for COVID-19 patients across the organization. The overwhelming response to Kaleida Health’s recruitment efforts ensures the current workforce tasked with caring for our patients does not become overwhelmed if and when COVID cases reach their peak in our community.

Kaleida Health has also hired over 150 people to fill vital roles across the organization including respiratory therapists, respiratory equipment aides, environment services aides, nutritional services workers, registered nurses, home health nurses, physician assistants, certified medical assistants, clinical laboratory assistants and personal care assistants.

‘MEDICALLY SPEAKING’ CORONAVIRUS EDITION – Janet Sundquist, M.D., medical director of Primary Care Center, Buffalo General Medical Center, discusses the importance of regular follow-up appointments for those who suffer from chronic medical conditions. Sundquist explains how telemedicine is helping physicians keep scheduled visits and book appointments for those who need to be seen during the coronavirus crisis.
