$192,735 provided through first coronavirus emergency funding package approved by Congress
Congressman Brian Higgins announced new federal resources to help federally qualified health clinics in Western New York respond to COVID-19. Three local clinics will receive a total of $192,735 in new federal funding.
Higgins said, “Our health centers serve as primary care providers for many residents, serving as the first point of contact and a trusted medical resource in communities that are frequently underserved. These federal resources will help with the added strain COVID-19 is putting on clinic budgets that are already spread thin.”
The awards are as follows:
Total: $192,735
The allocations are made possible through the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2020, approved by the House of Representatives on March 4.
A total of $100 million was awarded to 1,381 health centers across the nation for COVID-19 response in this round of grants. The funding can be used to expand screening, purchase supplies and personal protective equipment, broaden education measures and other operations.
