The 175th annual Tuscarora Nation Picnic, which was scheduled for July 10-11, has been canceled for this year. The summer picnic highlights Native American culture and traditions and includes dance, music and native foods.

The event chairman, Neil Patterson Sr., announced the cancelation and said, “It is with deep regret that we are forced to cancel this year’s picnic for safety reasons. The picnic attracts thousands of people from far and wide, and there are times when social distancing would be next to impossible to achieve. The health and safety of our patrons are our top priorities. We hope that medical therapies and vaccines can be developed in the meantime that will enable us to reschedule the picnic for July 2021, so we can continue this longstanding tradition the Tuscaroras have proudly hosted since 1845.”
