'American Idol' goes remote as 20 become 10

Mon, Apr 27th 2020 05:25 pm

Sunday night, “American Idol” made history as it aired its first-ever remote show, broadcasting to viewers from over 40 different locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Distance didn’t stop judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, host Ryan Seacrest, in-house mentor Bobby Bones and the Top 20 contestants from putting on a spectacular show full of remarkable costumes, emotional moments and can’t-miss performances, brought from their homes straight to America’s homes.

More than 6 million people watched as each contestant performed from home. The singers setup their own cameras and were joined remotely by the “American Idol” band. Following each number, the judges and Seacrest weighed in on the song choices and overall performance.

Tune in to find out who makes the Top 10 when “American Idol” returns with an all-new episode Sunday, May 3 (8 p.m. ET/PT), on ABC.
