NOTE: THIS EVENT IS NOW CANCELLED.

With Easter is right around the corner – and residents with less access to items they’d normally purchase to celebrate the holiday – Willow Consulting is organizing a special drive-up event from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, outside 625 Center St., Lewiston (across from St. Peter R.C. Church).

“As the Easter season approaches, we are looking to help you organize and prepare for the upcoming holiday. Amid all the changes and challenges we currently face, we are looking to help ease that burden. A few local businesses have joined forces to make it an easy one-stop-shop, drive-thru event,” Jamie Symmonds said. “All That Chocolate and The Village Bake Shoppe have come together to make ordering for the Easter holiday as simple and hassle-free as possible – drive-thru style, of course! And for some egg-stra fun, Easter eggs filled with a little something special will be handed out to each customer; limit is two per vehicle, while supplies last.”

All That Chocolate is selling an assortment of Easter chocolates, including bunnies of many shapes and sizes, as well as its everyday line, including boxed chocolates, dipped pretzels, assorted truffles, sponge candy, sea-salt caramels and assorted gift baskets.

The Village Bake Shoppe is offering an assortment of cakes, cheesecake, desserts, cutout cookies and pies.

“But how does this work?” you ask.

Eggs-cellent question.

√ Customers can pull up to the curb at 625 Center (starting at the corner of Center and South Seventh streets) and form a line behind each another.

√ There will be a sign and people to help guide customers.

√ As one drives up the bunny trail and parks, a volunteer will walk up to assist patrons, as they remain in the car.

√ Place an order with one or both of the businesses.

Once one has placed an order, arrangements will be made to pick-up items the following week. Payment is due when the order is placed, and can be made with cash or credit card.

“Drive up, place your order, and then drive away. It is that simple!” Symmonds said. “There will be some fun mixed in, as well. However, you will have to drive on up to see what surprises we have in store for you.”

She stressed organizers will adhere to strict safety guidelines – and reminded adults this is not an Easter bunny meet-and-greet for children.

“With all the changes surrounding us day-to-day – and sometimes even hour-to-hour – we still need to find a way to have some normalcy – and, let us not forget, some fun,” Symmonds explained. “We will be following all state-mandated guidelines during this event. The workers will be wearing gloves, and we ask that everyone remain in their car while placing your order.

“The volunteers and fun will come to you. The volunteers will be there to write down and take orders for the customers, in order to limit the number of individuals handling the clip boards, order forms, pens, etc. We will also have hand sanitizer to offer each customer, if requested, before and/or after the handling any of the materials.

Village Bake Shoppe Owner Michael Fiore said, “We are so thankful for all of our customers and community partners during this time. We want to assure our customers that we will still be here baking for them each and every day.”

Christine DeLuca said, "All That Chocolate is a family-owned and operated chocolate shop in Wilson, New York. We are thrilled to be participating in this event to support our local community, and to help uplift our neighbors in this trying time. A sweet treat can always go a long way towards brightening one’s day. We are here to offer some Easter cheer this season any way we can."

Symmonds said, “I want to help support small business in any way I can during these uncertain times, because I was – and continue to be – a small business in the River Region. We are all in this together and need to do our part to help lift each other up and support one another. That is what makes our community so special and why we will get through this.

“With Easter right around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for the community to get out, enjoy the day in Lewiston, with all that we still have to offer – six feet apart, of course!"
