Kaleida Health on Monday released the following updates regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic:

HONORING OUR DOCTORS – Today is the annual Doctors’ Day celebration across the country, and Kaleida Health is extending a “Thank you” to all the dedicated physicians working tirelessly across its health system to care for the community each and every day, but especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kaleida Health President and CEO Jody Lomeo said, “It takes deep compassion and dedication to be a doctor, especially during historic times like this. I want to thank all of the physicians in our community for their commitment to providing the best care to their patients every day, but this year we have even more to thank them for. Words can’t describe how grateful we are for their dedication during this difficult time.”

ERIE COUNTY SHIPMENT OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) – The County of Erie received a shipment of PPE from New York state and delivered half of it today to hospitals in the community, including Kaleida Health. This includes masks, gowns, gloves and face shields.

Lomeo added, “We are grateful to County Executive Poloncarz and his team for his continued advocacy around supplies and equipment. Coronavirus is here in our community so we, collectively, as health care providers must be prepared at all times. That means taking care of our staff. As we have said all along, it is imperative that we keep our workforce safe and healthy so we can take care of our patients.”

KALEIDA HEALTH COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND – The foundations of Kaleida Health have launched a COVID-19 response fund to support the critical needs of the health care workforce as it continues to care for the Western New York community through the unprecedented pandemic. Donations will directly support the needs of frontline staff and patients during this crisis
