Empire State Development announced the 2020 New York State Innovation Summit, which will take place in the Turning Stone Resort in Verona on Oct. 27-28.

The annual event brings New York’s technology companies, particularly startups, together and uses a series of speakers, breakout sessions and pitch sessions to encourage them to collaborate and advance new technologies in the state. It is organized by ESD’s division of science, technology and innovation (NYSTAR), and FuzeHub, the statewide center for the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NY MEP). The 2019 summit, held in Rochester, attracted more than 500 innovators, business leaders and entrepreneurs, providing a boost to area hotels, restaurants and attractions.

ESD Acting Commissioner and President/CEO-designate Eric Gertler said, “With its strengths in advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, aviation, nanotechnology and other high-tech industries, the Mohawk Valley is the perfect setting for our state’s brightest minds to convene. The game-changing ideas generated in Oneida County at the annual New York State Innovation Summit will accelerate New York’s already impressive economic growth and ensure the Empire State remains at the forefront of the innovation economy.”

At the Summit, NYSTAR and FuzeHub will feature advancements in technology and the latest innovation trends. This year, the summit will also serve as an opportunity to highlight the Mohawk Valley’s economic assets and talented workforce for business leaders and government officials from every corner of the state.

The 2020 Innovation Summit will focus on several key sectors of the state’s economy that are critical to sustained growth. They include:

•Advanced manufacturing
