The Grand Island Central School District’s coaching staff and supporters of the Unified basketball team took the plunge this weekend for the Special Olympics.

At Monday’s meeting of the Grand Island Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Brian Graham said, “We had a pretty exciting event this weekend, and I want to congratulate Brian Albert, Chris Simpson, Michelle Smock. Christina Boody, our (High School) Principal Michael Lauria, and student Steven Palmeri, who took the Polar Lake Erie Plunge in support to raise money for Special Olympics. That very small group of people – very small group – came together and within a few days raised over $2,000 for Special Olympics. So congratulations to that group.”
