Republican Assemblyman Angelo Morinello has been appointed as the ranking minority member for the Assembly’s standing committee on codes for the 2020 legislative session. Morinello has an extensive background in the criminal justice system, including serving as the Niagara Falls City Court judge from 2001-15.

“I am honored to be appointed to this crucial role, and I’m eager to utilize the skills and experience I’ve gained through my years of legal and judicial experience to analyze and examine bills reviewed by this committee,” Morinello said. “My intention will always be to create safer and stronger communities for families and their loved ones to call home.”

Morinello’s press release stated, “His experience within the legal system made him an optimal candidate for this position. The committee on codes deals with legislation and issues involving the state’s criminal and civil justice systems. Morinello will lead the charge on repealing or amending the recent bail reform law, which has generated national attention and criticism.”
