The Buffalo and Erie County Greenway Fund Standing Committee has set 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, as the deadline for submission of projects to be considered in the next round of funding.

The committee receives funds from New York Power Authority as part of the settlement agreement related to the 50-year federal relicensing for the Niagara Power Project in 2007. During the 50-year term of the license, the committee will receive $2 million a year. It is composed of one representative from Erie County, the City of Buffalo, Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy and NYPA.

To date, the committee has reviewed more than 108 projects and approved support to 80 projects. In all, the fund has received $26 million in payments from NYPA and committed more than $24.5 million to projects, some of which are multiple-year awards. Of the 80 projects, 71 have successfully completed the work the committee funded.

More information regarding the application is available at the Buffalo and Erie County Greenway Standing Committee website at http://bit.ly/1XA6mTo.
