The fifth annual “Art Off The Wall” exhibition and fundraiser to benefit the Carnegie Art Center opens at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, and will give visitors a unique opportunity to purchase original artwork. Local artists have donated works priced at $20 for the event.

For a $10 donation fee at the door for Carnegie Art Center members (or a $15 donation fee for the general public), patrons can attend the event, and enjoy a complimentary drink and hors d'oeuvres. Or, they can pre-purchase a $20 FASTPASS online from the Carnegie website to reserve one of the first 1-50 purchasing forms (only a few left), getting first selections of the artworks. The FASTPASS can be purchased at http://carnegieartcenter.org/art-off-the-wall/

Attendees can become a new member of the Carnegie the night of the fundraising event and the fee at the door will be waived. All guests will have the benefit of previewing the artwork from 6-6:45 p.m. Selling starts promptly at 7 p.m.

A press release said, “During the event, there is a great deal of excitement and anticipation of obtaining one's selection. The venue runs as a first come, first serve – hence, ‘Art Off The Wall.’ Patrons walk away with their purchase that evening and also have an opportunity to have it framed on-site as Partners in Art Complex offers framing services at a reasonable cost. A portion of the framing proceeds is donated to the CAC.”

Also, a fine art silent auction returns for its third year at the event. This year’s theme, “12 Buy 12,” includes local and national award-winning artists auctioning an original stretched canvas, with proceeds split 50/50 between the artists and the Carnegie.

This year’s fine art silent auction creators include Sandra Bartz, Bruce A. Blair, Trisha Butski, Charlie Clough, Jack Edson, Patrick Foran, Peter Fowler, Geroge Gilham, Ani Hoover, Joan Horn, Candice Keegan Masters, Mary Kunz Goldman, Anne Muntges, Cindi O’Mara, Pat Pendleton, Brian Porter, J. Tim Raymond, Dana Saylor, Katie Sehr, Ellen Steinfeld, Chuck Tingley and Gary Wolfe.

In 2015, "Art Off The Wall" marked the re-opening of the Carnegie Art Center. This event benefits the local art community while raising funds for the Carnegie. All artwork will be displayed without the benefit of artist signatures until after one’s purchase. One’s favorite artwork displayed at the show could be the work of a college student or the work of an established WNY artist.

Aspiring art collectors are given a rare opportunity to plunge into the purchase of their first “real” piece of art without breaking the bank. Established art collectors can test their palettes by learning if they have purchased their favorite artist or if they've “discovered” a new talent.

The Carnegie Art Center will also celebrate the 115th anniversary of its building being completed (Dec 5, 1904) at “Art Off The Wall,” with special treats and the launch of an online giving campaign.

The Carnegie Art Center is located in a structure built in 1904 as the City of North Tonawanda’s public library and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1974, the Carnegie, has been operating as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation offering the community art exhibitions, art and dance classes, as well as support to artists and art organizations.
