Local activist organization the Western New York Peace Center will host its 52nd annual dinner Friday, Nov. 8, at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in Buffalo. Former Nobel Peace Prize nominee, peace activist and co-founder of CodePink, Medea Benjamin, will be the keynote speaker.

Guests of the dinner will hear Benjamin speak about the environment, the carbon footprint of the military industrial complex, and how the two topics need to be addressed together to fight climate change. The WNY Resistance Revival Chorus and Valentino Dixon will each receive awards from the WNY Peace Center, as well.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for the social hour, silent auction and basket raffle; with dinner at 6 p.m. Free parking is located at the intersection of Franklin and Court streets. For tickets or more information, visit the organization's website, www.wnypeacecenter.org, or call 716-332-3904.

“During this critically important time, Medea has her eyes on the prize and is dedicated to making the changes the world so desperately needs,” said Victoria Ross, executive director of the WNY Peace Center.

Since its founding in 1967 as part of Rev. Dr. King’s Clergy & Laity Concerned, the WNY Peace Center is dedicated to fighting for social, economic and environmental change both locally and around the world; with the mission “Peace Through Justice at home and abroad!”
