On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 22, the idea of compassionate human services will be explored at a mini-conference at Heart, Love & Soul Food Pantry and Dining Room (939 Ontario Ave., Niagara Falls). All members of the community are welcome to this free event, which will include refreshments and will be held from 5-7 p.m.

Human services play an integral role in helping many members of the community. The event will allow the community to hear about efforts to weave compassion into human services, then join with others to envision even more compassionate human services. This mini-conference will feature a short video, and speakers from Community Missions and People Inc.

Presented by the Niagara County Coalition for Services to the Homeless to continue the momentum of its annual conference, the Compassionate Niagara committee is hosting a series of mini-conferences throughout the year to focus in on how different sectors can work together to make the community a compassionate one. The compassionate human services mini-conference is the third in the series of seven, and will be followed by a compassionate faith communities session at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Sponsors for the event include Calspan, Grigg Lewis Foundation, Confer Plastics, Covanta, Fidelis Care, Niagara Falls City School District, Kane Construction, East Hill Foundation, Community Missions, Phi Delta Kappa Chapter No. 0047, Catholic Health – Mount St. Mary’s, the Homeless Alliance of WNY, Kalos Health, Niagara Falls Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative and Hohl Industrial.

Advanced registration is requested. For more information, including registration, visit www.niagara.edu/compassion.
