Trick-or-treating in the City of Niagara Falls will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Residents who hand out treats should turn porch lights on during these three hours.

Niagara Falls Police Department Chief Thomas Licata reminded participants of the following:

•When driving, use extreme caution, put down electronic devices, drive slower during these hours, and look for children crossing streets.

•Children should use sidewalks at all times. Carry a flashlight to be seen, and do not wear costumes that cover the eyes.

•Only cross at corners; do not cut across yards or alleys.

•Do not assume the right of way. Motorists may have trouble seeing, so make eye contact before crossing.

Mayor Paul Dyster encouraged people to wear reflective clothing and exercise solid judgment while celebrating Halloween: “Hopefully, Mother Nature provides us with a nice evening and all residents have a great time trick-or-treating.”
