Discussion will be held at Martin House in Buffalo

The latest public forum session as part of Artpark & Company’s master plan process will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Martin House Education Center located at 125 Jewett Parkway, Buffalo.

Artpark & Company’s master plan team – SO-IL, West 8 and CharcoalBlue – as well as Executive Director Sonia Kozlova Clark, moderators Jordan Geiger and Omar Khan of Studio Gekh, and additional speakers, will discuss Artpark’s current vision for the development of park grounds, facilities and the visual arts programming as part of its long-term development plan.

The team encouraged the public to attend, and welcomes input as part of the process.

Artpark has historically served as a venue for artistic experimentation in land, environment and performing arts. Constructed with spoils from the building of the Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant, Artpark is a unique example of an artificial landscape that is the direct result of industrialization and the advent of hydroelectric power. As a part of the history of power generation, it provides a unique venue to explore the future of the environment and humanity's role in its maintenance and destruction.

“As a part of Artpark’s consideration for its future curatorial agenda, we look to develop an intermodal arts program engaging artistic projects across performance, design, visual and installation arts underlined by values of cultural democracy, social justice and environmental health. As a member of the WNY arts and design community, we would love to hear your input,” Kozlova Clark said.

Space is limited to 50 people. RSVP attendance to [email protected]. Guests arriving at the Martin House can enter at the front door of the house, where the host will direct them to the Education Center.
